Stephen A. LaRoque

Stephen Alexander LaRoque is a Republican member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing the state's 10th House district, including constituents in Greene, Lenoir and Wayne counties in North Carolina. A business owner from Kinston, North Carolina, LaRoque is serving in his third term in the state House. He is currently a Chairman of the Rules Committee, Vice Chairman of the Appropriations subcommittee on Natural and Economic Resources and a member of the Commerce, Environment and Public Utilities committees.[1]

In May 2011, LaRoque offered to hire an unemployed constituent, Kathryn Treadway, for landscaping work after an email exchange regarding unemployment benefits. Treadway quit after an hour of hauling dirt and stone pots and was paid 8 dollars for her time.[2]
